At this age children are given an opportunity for free play as well as having structured learning activities. Activities are geared to language development, creativity, self-identity and beginning cognitive skills. We continue to enhance large and small motor skills through indoor/outdoor gym time as well as the daily classroom activities. Children are introduced to shapes, colors, counting, and exercises. Art activities introduce painting, cutting with scissors, pasting and coloring. Lessons are often planned around “themed” units; i.e.: family, animals, plants, holidays, colors and more. The Discovery I classroom has a ratio of 1:6 or 2:10. Discovery II classroom has a ratio of 1:8 or 2:14. While in our two’s class, the children continue to share snack and lunch together. Quiet time or naps are reserved for after lunch.
Parents will need to bring a lunch, sleeping bag, change of clothing, disposable diapers (if needed for children not toilet trained or who are actively toilet training), and any comfort items needed for sleeping. Please have everything clearly labeled.
A part day option schedule is available for Discovery I & II class. Part day ends at 11:45 prior to lunch.
